A couple of months ago I had quite the brain fart, let's say, and for some unexplicable reason I want to remember it. So here goes...
I was preparing to leave town for 2 weeks (to Utah) and needed to refill a prescription to take with me. So I call it in and go to pick it up. (It's a Friday, by the way). The pharamcist tells me my insurance won't actually cover it until the next day and to come back. Very annoying. But, I don't actually make it back there till the following Monday. (Keep in mind I'm leaving at 5:30am the next morning (Tues) and I have a million things to get done and errands to run before I go - I just want to make note of that because it makes me feel better.)
So, on that busy Monday, Preston happens to have a Dr.'s appointment and ends up needing 3 prescriptions, which the Dr.calls in. I think to myself that I'll just pick his up when I pick mine up later that day and I plan to do it while Caiden is at soccer practice. So I drop Caiden off at practice that evening and hope to run 3 errands in that one hour. Well, my first errand went all wrong and took forever and I left feeling very irritated - and I just want to make note of that because it also makes me feel better :)
So I rush to Walgreens to pick up the prescriptions. (Now remember, I'm irritated and in a hurry.) To make matters worse there is this ridiculous woman who spots me as I walk in (with my cute baby in tow) and apparently misinterprets my rushed/annoyed look for a please-come-talk-to-me-and-my-baby-and-then-follow-me-around-the-store-all-whilst-asking-crazy-none-of-your-business-questions-as-if-we-are-best-friends look. No joke. She literally follows me to the pharmacy counter and I'm trying my best to lose her without running her over with my cart.
So I approach the counter and hurriedly tell the pharmacist I have 3 prescriptions for my son and one for me to pick up. She finds the ones for Preston, but says that someone has already picked up the one for me. Not possible, I tell her, because I was there just a few days ago and you wouldn't let me pick it up because my insurance wouldn't pay for it. (Keep in mind the crazy lady is STILL there just a-chattering away). My irritation level is rising and my patience level is dangerously dipping. The pharmacists insists that someone picked it up already - in fact it was earlier that morning at 10am. What??? (Meanwhile crazy lady is now telling me about her 4 grandchildren whose names all begin with the letter "M" and how she likes to call them her "M&M's" and then she laughs hysterically and I'm trying really hard to listen to the pharmacist and not punch the crazy lady in her crazy face!) So....as you can imagine, I'm starting to get a little bit SNIPPY.
"Look", I tell her, "I'm leaving at 5am tomorrow morning, and I need this prescription to take with me and it was here 3 days ago so why is it not here now??" She doesn't know. She just knows that someone came, picked it up and paid for it at 10am that morning. (Don't worry - the crazy lady hasn't left and now she's trying to talk to Paige - who, let's be honest doesn't really like people, especially crazy ones (I've taught her well). "Well, you obviously gave it to the wrong person," I tell the pharmacist. She again says there's nothing she can do until the tapes are reviewed so they can see who picked it up and she thinks they can get that done by tonight. Whatever. I'm done.
(It's about to get good).....
So I open my purse to get my wallet and pay for Preston's prescriptions, and there's a small bag inside....from Walgreens....from the pharmacy....with my prescription in it. Huh???? I'm so confuuuuuused!
THEN.....it all comes back to me, as if someone smacked me in the head. It was ME! I was THERE! That morning!!!! I went through the drive thru and I picked it UP....and I paid for it!! OH MY GOSH! So once I come to this realization, I'm SO embarassed and at first I almost don't say anything until I realize that they're going to review the tapes and then have to call me and say....."um...CRAZY LADY, it was you!!!!" Now I'm the CRAZY LADY!
So....I regain my composure...as best I can and I pull out the bag and show it the pharmacist and I tell her "Oh.My.Gosh. I am SO sorry. I have lost my mind." Luckily, she laughs and doesn't punch me in my crazy face. Then, (mostly to make myself feel better) I tell her that I just had a baby a couple of months ago and I haven't slept in a LONG time and clearly, I'm losing it.
And the worst part is, I still only vaguely remember picking it up. I remember being at the drive thru window, but not so much getting there or even paying for it. Where was my brain???? So I told Casey this story (mostly to convince him on why this upcoming vacation was so necessary for the sake of my HEALTH!) and I thought maybe he would find it humorous. Instead he told me (very seriously) #1 - you are crazy, #2 - you're kinda mean, and #3 - I don't really like that your driving around town with our kids in the car and you have no idea where you are or what you're doing. Can't say I blame him.
Want to hear the greatest part of the story? You might be wondering what this very important prescription I just had to have before I left town was. Nope. Not Prozac. It was my birth control! HA! Clearly, I need this more than anything because if I have one more baby, my brain just might ooze right out my head!
Now wait.....there's a little bit more. So the next day, I fly into Utah and I'm telling my sister this awesome story and we're having a good laugh and all. Then I notice that she's wearing a cute hoodie. And I go to tell her but what comes out is "That's a cute onesie!" Ahh! And then I struggle to remember the word "hoodie" - shirt....i mean, jacket...no....coat...i mean....HOODIE! Oh, how I struggle!

Kelley! Oh how I love you!!! thank you so much for making me giggle - out loud - at 5:30 in the morning! made my day :)
That is awesome! I think Casey's reaction is the best. I wouldn't put it past myself to pull the same stunt. How do you shake ladies in the store who won't leave you alone... or neighbors for that matter?
