Too Funny!!

Seriously! As I was posting the previous post (of finding Paige asleep in weird places) she LITERALLY did it again! About 2 minutes before, she was at my side wanting to go play outside. I told her "just one minute". No more than 2 minutes passed till I was done. I went to find her and I couldn't find her anywhere! I started to get a little frantic, thinking "did she go outside without me?" But I didn't hear the door open or close. So after walking through each room a couple of times, I checked in her favorite hiding spot (the closet under the stairs) and sure enough....SHE WAS ASLEEP IN IT! It is even funnier that she closed the door behind her... So she has now officially fallen asleep at the top, bottom, and underneath of the stairs. Crazy.

My Paigey

Yesterday, I came out of my bedroom to find Paige asleep on the bottom stair. She has now officially fallen asleep at the top AND bottom of the stairs. And the funny thing is, is that she had just been in my room with me about 2 minutes before this. I think even more amazing than the places I find her asleep in, is just how quickly she can fall asleep. We all had a good laugh at this one....

Below I managed to capture a small clip of Paige's dancing. This is only a fraction of her moves. She sort of tones it down when I pull out the camera. But this girl loves to dance. It is so funny. And yes, I am totally aware that she looks like a complete ragamuffin. I especially love the one purple and one white sock. And earlier that morning she had a small accident (yes, still potty training) so she decided to wear some capris that are too big with her pajama shirt. Very stylish, I know.

Speaking of potty training, here's an update. Paige is doing AWESOME at home. It has been a long time since she's had an accident. She wears regular underwear everyday that we are home. However, going out in public is another story. She has a fear of public restrooms and I really don't want to carry a potty chair around town everytime I have to run an errand. So she wears pull-ups in town, and even though she is almost always dry by the time we make it home, the 2 times I have gone without she peed her pants. Once in the grocery store (that was really embarassing) and once at a friends. (Sorry, Jami. And Harvest Foods too for that matter.) Anyway, all-in-all, I am thrilled to at least being on the road to diaper freedom. For a little while at least.

Anniversary

Seven years ago today, on March 16, 2002, Casey and I were married in the San Diego Temple. It is hard to believe seven years have past already. (I feel a little old). Our 2 children have been our greatest accomplishments. And we have been blessed every step of the way. So....here's to my awesome husband....Thank you for being a great husband and for working so hard and, most importantly, for getting up EVERY morning and feeding the kids breakfast while I sleep in. I will forever be grateful for that one.

How did he pop the question? Well, it all happened at the beginning of Winter semester 2002. We knew we wanted to get married and had talked about it prior to the semester beginning, but had not exactly shared this with our families just yet. At this time Ricks College was making the transition to becoming BYU-Idaho. But not all programs had switched to a 4 year program, including mine. I had already gotten my Associates, so my schedule was filled with mostly random classes. We knew would eventually have to transfer somewhere else and Casey found out that some of the classes he was taking would not transfer. So....it seemed a waste to stay there and take classes that we didn't need or wouldn't transfer, right? Solution: Drop out and get married. So we dropped all our classes and decided we work for the rest of the semester, save up some money and get married in the summer. This was a really fun phone call to make home. I distinctly remember calling my mom and catching her on her lunch break. She was in the drive-thru of Burger King. I told her Casey and I were getting married and dropping all of our classes (in so many words, I'm sure I presented it much better). I heard the order taker say "Can I take your order?" and my mom snapped "Just a minute!!" It was hilarious. But nevertheless, she was happy for me and was all for it. So we began looking for jobs in Rexburg and could not find ANYTHING. What to do? We upped the wedding to March and decided to move home (me, California - Casey, Washington) until then. So....back to how he popped the question. In the meantime of all of this, we had been ring shopping and I found a ring I liked. The element of surprise was sort of gone, since we knew would be leaving soon to go home, and it was only a matter of time. So Casey asked me to go into the ring shop and have my finger sized. Unbeknownst to me, he had called the guy there beforehand and told him to tell me that they accidentally sold my ring. So I went in to have my finger sized and the guy told me "I'm so sorry, but we sold your ring." I was sooooo mad. Dumb idiot. How does that happen? So I called Casey and he assured me that we would continue looking and find another one and it would be okay. The next day, he came and got me and we went and got some lunch. It was a nice day, so we went and ate outside at the top of a hill overlooking good ole' Rexburg. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out MY ring and proposed. I was so happy and very surprised that he was able to trick me. (Anyone who knows Casey, knows he is a TERRIBLE liar!) Anyway, not long after that we went home and worked a little and in just 3 months time, planned a beautiful wedding in San Diego. We had a luncheon on the beach and later honeymooned on a cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. And we are now currently living our happily ever after....

Too much TV!

This may be sign the TV is on too much in my house....

Yesterday I was in Rite Aid shopping, and Caiden (who, let me remind you, is 5) saw an item he had seen on TV. These were his exact words: "Mom! We have to get this! It's the AquaGlobe! You put it in your plants and it waters the plant for you! You don't have to water them for up to 2 weeks!!" He was so excited and talking really fast and his voice squeaked on the last word. He was totally Mr. Infomercial. A lady nearby heard the whole thing and she stared at him like he was the strangest child. I couldn't stop laughing at how excited he was over the AquaGlobe. And even funnier, we don't even have any plants. So as much as I'd like to believe it's his super fantastic memory, I'm more convinced that I need to turn the darn TV off more often.

Scrapbooking Trip

It's that time again.... My sister and I have created a tradition where once a year we get together and do pretty much nothing but scrapbook for three or four days straight. It's also tradition that while we scrapbook, we watch an entire season of some TV show. This year we decided to catch up on "Lost" and we watched the entire 3rd season. It has been 4 years since we started doing this and we love it! It's so fun! It's a great way to catch up on our scrapbooks and watch a TV show that we haven't had time for during the year. Plus, my kids love it too, because they love to play with their Aunt Kimmy.

We also had a little Wii tournament. Caiden successfully knocked out me, Casey, and Kim in boxing...

...and Casey beat me in tennis, BUT I am improving, just not exactly winning...

One night after we put the kids to bed, my sister and I went to a late show at the movie theatre. Casey likes to give me a hard time because I always sneak in all my snacks. Drinks, candy, and popcorn all stuffed in my purse! I'm far too cheap to actually buy the food there. Rip off! I prefer to be sneaky and bring my own...

Creative Caiden

So, there were 2 funny conversations tonight between Caiden and Casey that totally cracked me up. It went something like this:
Casey: "What letter did you learn today in preschool?"
Caiden: (Holds his hand up and makes the shape of an "o")
Casey: (teasing) "Zero?"
Caiden: (very matter-of-fact) "No dad, 'zero' is not a letter. It's a number. It's the first one in the numberbet."
Casey: "The what?"
Caiden: "The numberbet."
Ha! I died laughing! If there's an alpha-bet, then there must be a number-bet too. So cute...
Then later that night Casey and I were trying to watch TV and Caiden and Paige were running around and being very loud.
Casey: "You have 2 options. Option #1: go upstairs and play. Option #2: go to bed. Which one?"
Caiden: (thoughtfully) "Um...option #3: stay down here."
Oh, that is one clever little boy.

25 Random Things About Me

It's a miracle!!

Well, I think I have witnessed a miracle! Paige has actually been using the potty for the past few days. I've noticed within the past week that she has been playing with her potty chair. She will go grab it and put it on the floor and sit on it while she is playing (as you've seen in past posts). Then I noticed one day while she was carrying around her purse (which is a daily thing) that it was filled with all her Dora panties. So funny! So I asked her if she wanted to wear them and she agreed. I told her she couldn't pee in them, which, of course, a few minutes later she did. I said "oh no! you peed on Dora!" She had the funniest look on her face like she really felt bad for peeing on Dora. So for the rest of that afternoon she actually sat on the potty and peed!! I had to ask her, of course, but she still did it! Miracle! Now she has decided that she would rather carry all her panties in her purse instead of wear them, but she is keeping a dry diaper for most of the day. It is so funny when she goes because she will start and then stop, and then smile really big and say "one more time!" and then she will finish. I die laughing. I'm trying to be very careful not to push her, because Paige is the type to get really angry and then take 10 steps backwards just to punish me. I definitely don't want that. I will take whatever I can get. She seems very set on keeping her panties in her purse though, so we will see where it goes from here...

Sledding

This is from a few weeks ago, but I'm just getting around to posting it. Casey and I took the kids sledding with Papa Gubler and Keenen....

I think Papa got a good work out between Caiden and Paige always wanting to go with him...

Me and Paigey cruising down the hill. She actually really liked it. (To bad my camera sucks and the pictures aren't so clear...one day I'll get a new one.)

Caiden and Keenen flying!! At first Caiden was scared to go by himself, so he would only go with me or Casey or Papa. Meanwhile, Keenen was flying and spinning and all kinds of craziness. So Casey got ready to go down with Caiden and "accidentally" let go to early and Caiden went down by himself. When he realized he was still in one piece at the bottom, the fear was gone and he went solo from that point on. (Although, I am pretty grateful that he's pretty cautious kid...it may be a blessing in years to come...)

Does this count?

So does this count as sitting on the potty? I walked in the room to find Paige watching TV while sitting on her Dora potty seat. Seriously, what prompted her little mind to think "I'm gonna go get my potty chair and sit on it and watch TV"?

I have been telling myself that I would start trying to potty train her after the holidays. Well, now the holidays are over and I've not done a thing. I completely DREAD potty training and she gets very upset just talking about it. For Christmas, my mom bought her a "Elmo Potty Time" DVD and even though she absolutely LOVES Elmo, she will have NOTHING to do with that DVD. I try to get her to watch it and she refuses. Well, at least the potty chair is getting some use....
